The New Series from HBO “A Game of Thrones” is Coming Soon
HBO has started work on it’s new fantasy T.V series: A Game of Thrones.
It is based on the wildly popular fantasy series “A Song of Ice and Fire”, the first book of which is called A Game of Thrones. A Song of Ice and Fire has been met with praise from critics and fans alike, it is considered by many to be the best epic fantasy series out there. The books take place in a fictional word, focused on a continent called westeros. The story is gargantuan in scope, so far the story has been told through the viewpoints of 25 different characters so far, some appearing more than others. Volumes currently published include: A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, A Feast For Crows and the upcoming fifth volume eagerly anticipated by many fans is called A Dance With Dragons.
So far Tom Mcarthy, director of The Visitor and The Station Agent has been signed to direct the pilot and Peter Dinklage has been signed to play the central role of Tyrion Lannister. Shooting is set to begin in October in Northern Ireland. They will be using a studio called The Paint Hall, an 8 acre set, one of the biggest in the world. The studio was used to shoot the recent movie City of Ember, they had the entire city built inside the facility.
The new show looks to be a sure hit with an amazing story to base off of, an excellent cast (so far) and shooting in one of the best studio’s in the world. If you like the sound of this feel free to check out George r.r. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series to see what all the hubub is about.
